Here's simply the rarest and nicest Frank Sinatra movie poster promotional from the 1940's. If you know Sinatra movie paper then you know how drab the poster treatments were during the 1940's.Frank Sinatra is famous for a lot of reasons, being on exciting movie posters is not one of them. Considering the legendary status of his stardom, headlining in over fifty (50) major studio films, Sinatra appeared on only a couple of inspirational movie posters throughout his five decade long film career. At the beginning, in the 1940's, Sinatra was always part of an ensemble cast. The posters for those early features never just focused on Frank. The posters predominantly picture a plethora of personalities within the cast. Additionally, it was WWII time and studio posters were not as colorful and attractive as the pre-war variety from the 1930's, and so you have a situation where there are NO great 1940's Sinatra movie posters. That is, except for this extraordinarily rare exception. With the 1948 release of RKO's "The Miracle of the Bells, " the studio made a special set of lobby card "bell" posters, each featuring one of the three stars of the picture: Frank Sinatra, Valli, and Fred MacMurray. They also made a title card bell.
" This special set of lobby card "streamer posters features a stellar image of a young Frank Sinatra at the height of his crooner sensation. I've been looking for over 40 years now and I haven't seen anything on Sinatra from this period that comes close to the quality of this piece.
"Old Blue Eyes" is smiling right at you! This particular Sinatra poster is as crisp as any 1930's lobby card - and that's for real!
The extra sharp printing and vintage life-like hand-coloration put this set of posters in a class by itself. Lobby Streamers: are specialty items that the studios issued on their bigger productions during the 1930's and'40's. Films like the 1931 "Frankenstein" and MGM's "The Wizard of Oz" issued lobby streamers similar to this sectional piece, but NONE have survived. Only photos of them in the original campaign books exist today. This is THE only set of "The Miracle of the Bells" to have surfaced on the collector market.
It gets NO rarer than this. Needless to say, not many were made or ordered. These four are printed on card-stock paper slightly thicker than a 1930's lobby card. Each "bell" has the SAME printing on BOTH sides, and so they're double-sided. Each "bell" measures approximately 11x14 inches, 13 & a half by 10 and a half to be exact. If you're looking for a top piece with class to represent Sinatra during his seminal crooner days - LOOK NO FURTHER! It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won't inspire anyone! The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. This poster is definitely ECONOMY PROOF!
